Second iRTG workshop

Aims

This workshop addresses doctoral students in chemistry, physics, biophysics, and related fields in the iRTG "Polymers: random coils and beyond". The doctoral students will introduce the basic theoretical and technical concepts necessary for an understanding of projects within the iRTG. The iRTG workshop focuses on experimental and theoretical techniques to study synthetic polymer and biopolymer systems.

Topics

  • Structure and dynamics of (bio)polymers
  • Dimension and Dynamics of Unfolded Polypeptide Chains
  • Coarse graining approaches
  • Conformational dynamics in α-helices
  • Force field based molecular dynamics of macromolecules
  • Amyloid beta protein aggregation
  • Interaction between proteins and synthetic polymers
  • Dynamics and charge transport in soft matter
  • Thermophoretic trapping
  • Polymer synthesis techniques
  • Self-healing metallopolymers

Techniques

  • Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy
  • Fluorescence resonance energy transfer
  • Triplet-Triplet Energy Transfer
  • Broadband dielectric and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy
  • Monte-Carlo methods
  • Molecular dynamics simulation
  • Atomic force microscopy
  • Single-Molecule Fluorescence Spectroscopy
  • Vibrational circular dichroism
  • Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization
  • Thermophoretic trapping
