cost of living

Martin-Luther-University charges no tuition fees. However, you will have to provide evidence to the German Embassy in your home country or to the alien registration authority as to how you intend to finance your stay (Finanzierungsnachweis).

To cover your living expanses, you should budget on average for at least € 400 - 600 per month.

accommodation: € 150 - 300
health insurance: about € 55
books and materials for studying: about € 25 - 50
food: at least € 150

Our University semester fee is 56.10 Euro. It has to be transferred at the beginning of every semester.
The semester ticket, using the public transport in Halle (trams, busses, trains), is 60 Euro per semester.

financial support

A scholarship or grant may be the answer for those who don't have the necessary financial resources. Various sources of financial support are available. The contact address for applying for a scholarship is the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Office). The decisive factors in the awarding of support are the academic qualifications and personal suitability of the applicant.

Prospective applicants must inquire in their home country!

The German Embassies and DAAD offices abroad will be able to provide this information and the appropriate application forms.

At the webpages of DAAD you will find a scholarship database    that shows you what is on offer.
